In this workshop you will become acquainted with the fine details of transitioning from one posture to another, seamlessly and steadily, linking each pose together gracefully, and with ease, using proper breath control, to create a beautiful and dynamic yoga practice. 

Because transitions from one posture to the next are just as important as the posture itself, you will find this particular workshop to be highly enjoyable, challenging and creatively stimulating as you begin to experience the effects of sequencing your movement in a way that reflects poise, strength and balance!

Being In Your Body- A Practice of Breath and Self-Healing with Colleen Kropp and Maria Flaccavento

Our city-culture fosters and creates the expectation to lead busy, hyper-connected lives. We are encouraged to "face" each day and "put our best foot forward," often leading with our heads before our hearts.

For many of us, so much activity can lead to pain in the body, be it physical or energetic, and we end up trying to control our bodies, rather than giving them the peace and quiet that they crave and require. What happens when we slow down and simply feel what we feel?

In this workshop we will explore being in our bodies as a means for pursuing and cultivating steadiness, sustainability, and ease. As participants, you will leave with a toolkit of exercises designed to get you out of your head and into your body, including 2-3 breath practices and a mini workbook of customizable asanas. If you are experiencing a physical injury or energetic imbalance, or simply wish to develop a practice of tuning in with the self, this workshop is for you.

Join Mari for a 1 hour pilates class in the big heated yoga studio! This will be an all-levels flow, but some base knowledge of the pilates beginner exercises will be helpful.

Abs and Arm Balances with Colette Marie

This workshop will be the foundation to building a strong arm balance practice, which will include a number of abdominal exercises and upper body exercises to prepare the body for arm balances such as Crow, Chin Stand, Side Crow, Single Leg Forearm, Forearm Stand, and more! You will learn to execute a few key forearm balances  with the use of proper technique, methodology, body mechanics and mechanics of the posture, while also focusing on alignment, core engagement, leg strength and most importantly, breath control. 

Cost: $40

Retreat to Bliss: Yoga, Pilates, meditation & more!

Escape with us to Jake's Treasure Beach, an environment that promotes health and wellbeing in paradise! Picture yoga on the beach, Pilates in a studio overlooking the ocean and meditating to the sound of the waves. We will indulge in fresh, nourishing, sustainable & local food, explore the beautiful surroundings and relax by the pool.
During the retreat, we will focus on rebooting the body and mind through physical movement and mental exercise. When we're not getting our sweat on, there will be plenty of opportunities to explore the island with pre-planned excursions, or just lounge on the beach in between meals.

Are you a runner, yogi or desk jockey? Have you been training for a race and haven't had time to restore your body after your hard work? Join us and learn to roll with flow, and release with ease!

In this workshop we will relieve sore and tight muscles, while also building strength and stability. Utilizing the foam roller to compliment your Pilates/fitness practice, we will open muscles and connective tissue. This hands-on practice is designed to stretch, tone and increase mobility. 

Theresa will bring you through a unique sequence that centers around functional fitness, with a prop that can be used anywhere! She will give you the necessary tools to effectively roll both inside and outside of the classroom.

This is a 12-week series beginning on 1/9/19 and ending on 3/27/19

Kid's Yoga and Creative Movement class will involve the practice and understanding of fun, kid-friendly yoga poses, as well as the practice of stillness and breathing. The class will involve elements of play including investigations of animal movements that aid in the practice of the yoga poses that are being learned. The children will have an opportunity to be leaders and followers and will be given plenty of space to expand their bodies and their imaginations. The class will offer opportunities for each child to feel strong and to practice kindness and community.

*This is a drop off class. Parents/Grandparents/Nannies are welcome to stay in the lobby while the children participate.

How to Stay Grounded & Sane in Wintertime: Seasonal Health Tips for Winter Anxiety and Depression

Winter is the time of rest and replenishment, according to the wisdom of Chinese Medicine, but winter tends to be the season of burnout, seasonal depression, and restlessness in our culture.

During this workshop, we will explore seasonal health tips, self-care practices, and meditation practices to help you settle into the stillness and calm of winter so that you don’t feel as anxious or depleted.

 We will also explore how to gracefully transition from the heaviness of winter into the activity of spring so that you can spring forth with all of your abundance intact as you prepare for another year of your life.

 This event explores seasonal energetics and how to stay healthy throughout the shifting seasons of each year.

 Monica Fauble, MA, M.Ac., L.Ac., Dipl. Ac., is a Licensed Acupuncturist who sees patients in Rittenhouse Square at the Medical Tower Building and in West Philly at Studio 34 Yoga. She specializes in helping women who feel overwhelmed by ongoing health issues who want to feel good again so they can get back to doing what they love.
